Core Competencies for Family Doctors in Mental Health Care
As family doctors, we frequently come into contact with patients with mental health problems. But many of us are uncertain about what family doctors should be able to do to help them. WONCA’s Working Party for Mental Health has produced guidance on what can reasonably be expected of all trained and qualified family doctors, working in primary care settings in any part of the world, when caring for people with mental health problems. Education for Primary Care – February free online access
A further reminder that every month the journal Education for Primary Care provides WONCA members with free access to one interesting article. This month they are offering free access to a paper from Maggie Bartlett and the team at Keele Medical School UK on community attachments for 15 weeks in final year:

Resources Added to the WONCA Website – 2018
As well as the resources listed above, a number of other new resources have been added on the WONCA website, and we urge you all to have a look. Some are from our Working Parties (WP) and our Special Interest Groups (SIG) – such as the WONCA WP on Rural Practice; the WONCA SIG on Non-Communicable Diseases; and the WONCA SIG on Family Violence.
There are also a number of Goodfellow Gems (chosen by the Goodfellow director Dr Bruce Arroll to be either practice changing or practice maintaining. The information is educational and not clinical advice) and also PEARLS (Practical Evidence About Real Life Situations – brief, minimalistic summaries of Cochrane Primary care systematic reviews with the answer in the title (so you only read the ones you like).
WONCA Featured Doctor: Dr Katarzyna Nessler (Poland) – Vasco da Gama Preconference Chair
Katarzyna Nessler is the chair of the Host Organising Committee of the preconference of the Vasco da Gama Movement (for European young family doctors), coming up in Krakow 2018, in association with the WONCA Europe conference.
