The Challenge We’re Addressing
Current AI Limitations
Most medical AI tools are developed using data from high-resource environments, making them inadequate or even unsafe for African healthcare contexts. They often fail to account for local epidemiology, resource constraints, and cultural factors essential to effective primary health care in Africa.
Our Solution
Through the MOOVE platform, we’re bringing together African healthcare professionals to validate and improve Meditron – an AI tool specifically trained on global clinical guidelines that include adaptations for low-resource and humanitarian settings.
About the MOOVE Platform
MOOVE (Massive Online Open Validation and Evaluation) is a collaborative platform where healthcare experts test, compare, and refine AI models using real-world clinical questions relevant to their local contexts.
Expert-Led Validation
Healthcare professionals submit realistic clinical scenarios and evaluate AI responses using standardized criteria including accuracy, safety, and contextual relevance.
Collaborative Approach
Multiple experts evaluate each clinical scenario to build consensus and identify areas where AI models may be inadequate or potentially harmful.
African-Focused
This initiative specifically targets validation for African primary health care contexts, ensuring AI tools work safely and effectively in our settings.
What Participants Will Do
- Preparatory Meetings: Attend one of two online Zoom sessions to understand the MOOVE platform and develop our Use Case Specific Framework for African PHC
- Submit Clinical Questions: Contribute 25 realistic clinical scenarios relevant to African primary health care over 1-2 months
- Evaluate AI Responses: Review and score AI responses using standardized criteria, helping identify strengths and potential safety concerns
- Collaborate with Peers: Evaluate clinical scenarios submitted by colleagues to build consensus and ensure comprehensive validation
