Donald Li: This is surely the strangest year any of us have experienced in our careers. The COVID19 pandemic has displaced plans, accelerated adoption of new ways of doing things, changed the way we consult with our patients and, as ever, has seen family doctors and GPs on the front line dealing with diagnosis and early treatment of patients. Huge gaps are now all too apparent in our readiness and preparedness for global health challenges. The need for health to be the top priority for every government is clear. Explicitly, the need for good quality, comprehensive primary healthcare, delivered by a qualified PHC team, is of paramount importance.
