Dear colleagues
We are doing research to explore clinical courage amongst rural doctors in the context of Covid-19. Part of the research is to help WoncaRural understand what we can do to help in supporting rural colleagues around the world.
We would really like to get a spread of participation from rural doctors in a range of countries, with different kinds of backgrounds and levels of experience. If you are a practising rural doctor, I would thus encourage you to consider responding to the request below. (We would be happy to do similar work in other health professionals working in the rural context, but now we are limiting it to medical doctors.)
Kind regards
Ian
Invitation to participate in a research project
Project Title: Doctors’ Experiences of COVID-19 and Clinical Courage
At times doctors have to work at the limits of their scope of practice in order to meet the needs of their patients. This takes courage. This project builds on our work to understand the experience of clinical courage as perceived by rural doctors. We are seeking to broaden our understanding of clinical courage by exploring how doctors practise during times of significant stress such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
This study is being undertaken by the following research team: Lucie Walters, Jill Konkin, Ruth Stewart, Ian Couper, Susan Williams and David Campbell. If you are working as a rural doctor and have experience with preparing for and treating COVID-19 patients and are comfortable to be interviewed in English, then we invite you to participate in our study.
If you are interested to know more about this study contact lucie.walters@adelaide.edu.au to be sent a participant information sheet and consent form, or you can register your interest by undertaking a brief survey at URL link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ARCS_Clinicalcourage_and_COVID_SURVEY_2020
Best wishes from Lucie
