From the President: Alma Ata 40 – Our chance is now
This month Professor Amanda Howe highlights another busy month starting with a very enjoyable and informative trip to visit our members in the Caribbean College of Family Physicians; then the World Health Assembly in Geneva; followed by the WONCA Europe conference in Krakow; and then our WONCA World Executive in Warsaw! But the key part of her message is about the forthcoming celebrations in Astana in October to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Alma Ata declaration.

WONCA Conferences 2019
We are all looking forward to the WONCA World conference in Seoul in October, but for many their thoughts are also turning to events in 2019. Most regional conferences are listed on the WONCA website (link below) but there are several great venues to look forward to in 2019 including:
- 1st to 4th May – Iberoamericana-CIMF in Tijuana, Mexico
- 15th to 18th May – Asia Pacific in Kyoto, Japan
- 5th to 8thJune – Africa in Kampala, Uganda
- 26th to 29th June – Europe in Bratislava, Slovak Republic
- 22nd to 24th November – South Asia in Lahore, Pakistan
The WONCA EMR conference is provisionally in Beirut, Lebanon, from 20th to 23rd March, but due to some rising local tensions this has yet to be confirmed.
