Dear Fellow Advocates for Social Participation,

The Handbook on Social Participation for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) will be launched on 31 May at 14:00 – 15:00 CET – mark your calendars!

WHO, UHC2030, Health System Governance Collaborative, UHC-Partnership, and PMNCH invite you to the launch of this innovative and comprehensive guidance book for policy-makers on the ‘how’ of social participation.

This virtual event will present and discuss key handbook messages around how social participation can be undertaken in a manner which institutionalizes it as a modus operandi within the health sector. The specific value-add of social participation for governments and the population they are responsible for will be unpacked in concrete terms, with examples highlighted by an exciting panel.

The event is moderated by Rhoopa Datt (Women in Global Health). Following a presentation of the handbook content by Dheepa Rajan (WHO), a panel discussion with Fran Baum (Peoples Health Movement), Joy Phumaphi (African Leaders Malaria Alliance), Ravi Ram (COPASAH), and Stéphanie Seydoux (French Ambassador for Global Health) will illustrate how institutionalizing social participation requires specific capacities which need to be invested in – but doing so will reap huge long-term benefits for the health system.

The link to the handbook will be made available during the session.
