Use of Chemical Weapons on Civilians
As of 2024, Israeli forces have been listed on the United Nations Annual Report on Children in Armed Conflict as perpetrators of at least 5,698 grave violations against children.
- The United Nations has confirmed 45 attacks on schools by Israeli forces and 326 attacks on hospitals by Israeli forces in both Gaza and the West Bank.
- There have been 3,250 confirmed cases of Israeli forces denying humanitarian access into Palestine.
- 3,227 applications for Palestinian children to access life saving medical treatment by crossing the border were either denied or ignored by the Israeli government.
- 1,975 Palestinian children have been verified to have been maimed by Israeli forces. There are 10,787 more cases awaiting UN verification.
- 2,267 Palestinian children have been killed in Gaza and the West Bank.
- 906 Palestinian children have been detained by Israeli security forces, and 84 of those children testified to UN officers about the ill treatment and abuse they endured while in detention.
- Due to the ongoing nature of the conflict, the UN Secretary General has noted that this is not a comprehensive list and the real numbers are likely much higher.
A raging war against civilians
The Israeli military has been waging a war on civilians that not only includes armed attacks, but also chemical weapons, starvation of Palestinians as well as deprivation of humanitarian aid.
- Starting October 9, 2023, the IDF has been confirmed to have been using white phosphorus, a devastating chemical weapon, on Palestinian territories, mainly concentrated in Gaza. It catches on fire when exposed to air and can cause horrific burns that cannot be put out with water.
- The entire Gaza population is experiencing “high levels of acute food insecurity”, with nearly half of the population considered “catastrophic food insecurity”. Israel is blocking food aid trucks from entering Gaza.
- Aid trucks attempting to enter Gaza are subjected to unending inspections and arbitrary denial of items such as insulin, which has not been allowed to enter Gaza at all in 2024.
- Over 200 aid workers have been killed, the highest amount in any conflict since the birth of the United Nations.
Arbitrary arrests, imprisonment, and torture
Israeli forces are detaining Palestinians in abhorrent conditions and subjecting them to torture.
- As of March 2024, 10,167 Palestinians are being held in Israeli prisons.
- Prisoners have been subjected to beatings, torture, humiliation and sexual assault.
- Prisoners are also denied access to their family and lawyers, and many are being arbitrarily detained without any charges against them.
- Prisoners denied treatment for the injuries sustained in prison at the hands of the Israeli forces and 8 prisoners have died as a result of this.
- Prisoners are held in inhumane conditions, packed into cells and deprived of food, water and hygiene facilities.
