Many residents of Mangaung in the Free State came out in support of the National Health Insurance (NHI) Bill during the public hearings last week but asked that existing problems in the healthcare sector be fixed. The dire state of healthcare services and facilities in the Free State is the main reason some residents in Mangaung are sceptical that the implementation of the NHI Bill will have a positive impact on their lives. This was among a variety of views aired by residents at a public hearing on the NHI Bill in Bloemfontein last Monday, 27 January.
