Dear colleagues,

On 16 April WHO issued an interim guidance “Considerations for public health and social measures in the workplace in the context of COVID-19” available at https://www.who.int/publications-detail/considerations-for-public-health-and-social-measures-in-the-workplace-in-the-context-of-covid-19

The guidance covers non-healthcare workplaces. A workplace risk assessment should be carried out to determine the level of exposure risk (low, medium or high) and better plan preventive measures to be implemented. It should be carried out for each specific work setting and each job. The risk of work-related exposure to COVID-19 depends on the probability of coming into close with people who may be infected with COVID-19 and through contact with contaminated surfaces and objects.

The employers, in consultation with workers and their representatives, should take preventive and protective measures, which will not involve any expenditure on the part of workers. Workplaces should develop action plans for prevention and mitigation of COVID-19 as part of the business continuity plan and according to the results of the risks assessment and the epidemiological situation.

This document is an annex to and should be read in conjunction with the framework guidance “Considerations in adjusting public health and social measures in the context of COVID-19: interim guidance” from 15 April 2020 https://www.who.int/publications-detail/considerations-in-adjusting-public-health-and-social-measures-in-the-context-of-covid-19-interim-guidance.
